GENERAL ENQUIRIES What is detox and how long does it take? Detoxification helps manage withdrawal symptoms safely. The duration depends on the type and severity of substance use but typically lasts between 3 and 10 days. Our onsite medical detox unit ensures 24/7 clinical supervision. Why are people reluctant to seek help? Denial and stigma are two major barriers to seeking treatment. Our team at Olive Hill works to break down these barriers, creating a non-judgmental space where healing can begin. What causes relapse? Lack of support is often the main cause. At Olive Hill, developing a strong support network through group therapy, AA/NA meetings and aftercare is a key part of relapse prevention. Can my family visit or call me? Family members are welcome to visit on Sundays and can participate in family therapy workshops. They may also maintain contact through arranged calls. Why is family therapy important? Addiction doesn’t happen in isolation — it touches everyone close to the person affected. Families often carry the emotional weight of the illness, even when they’re not the ones using. That’s why leading treatment centres around the world make family involvement a vital part of recovery. Will I have access to my phone or laptop? Phone and laptop use is restricted during the initial phase of treatment to aid focus. Afterward, limited and supervised access is permitted. Special accommodations can be discussed with your therapist. What should I bring with me? Bring comfortable casual wear, gym clothing, nightwear, toiletries, prescribed medications (in original containers), and outdoor gear for walks. Olive Hill provides towels, bed linens, and toiletries. Can I receive mail? Yes. Mail is allowed but packages must be opened in the presence of a staff member for security reasons. Can I smoke?
